SEPA

SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) creates one European payment market with the same payment options in every SEPA country. No more separate rules per country, but the same guidelines for each country. This makes it a lot easier to pay between the SEPA countries or within one SEPA country.

You can transfer and collect money from parties in all SEPA countries with one account. This uniform payment market also creates more competition. This can lead to better products, more efficiency and lower costs.

IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number. It is the international bank account number for businesses and consumers in the SEPA countries. You must use the IBAN for every credit transfer or direct debit. You can find your own IBAN in Internet Banking, the ABN AMRO app or Access Online.

Please note: you should accept credit transfers and direct debits from all IBAN’s. You are not allowed to decline a credit transfer or direct debit because the IBAN is held in another country. Your administration systems should be able to process credit transfers and direct debits from all SEPA countries.

All countries from the European Union belong to the Single Euro Payments Area, as well as a number of other countries.
