With an iDEAL profile, you fill your details in once and can then use your profile for all your online purchases. Read more about the iDEAL profile, how to use it and how to set up a profile.

All your online purchases with a single profile

If you add your current account, contact details and delivery address to your iDEAL profile, you won’t have to fill them in every time you make a purchase in an online shop. Your iDEAL profile will be recognised when you pay, and all you have to do is confirm in the ABN AMRO app. Online shopping has never been faster.

How to set up an iDEAL profile in the ABN AMRO app

1. Log in and go to iDEAL

Log in to the ABN AMRO app. Tap the ‘Payments’ tab, scroll down and select ‘iDEAL’ under ‘Payment methods’.

2. Select ‘Add accounts’

Read more about how the iDEAL profile works and select ‘Add accounts’.

3. Select the account(s) and go to the iDEAL environment

Select the account(s) you want to use for payments with your iDEAL profile. You can add more than one account. Select ‘Continue on iDEAL.nl’.

4. Continue in the iDEAL environment

Your iDEAL profile is managed by the owner of iDEAL, Currence iDEAL B.V. This is why we direct you to their environment, where you need to take the following steps: 

  • Fill in your details for your iDEAL profile and read the terms and conditions.  
  • You will be sent an email with a code to confirm your email address and iDEAL profile.  
  • You can add your address, but you don’t have to. Select ‘Save’.

Your iDEAL profile is good to go! 

How to set up an iDEAL profile on Internet Banking

  1. Log in to Internet Banking and go to ‘Self service’.
  2. Select ‘Payments’ and then ‘Manage my iDEAL profile’.
  3. Read more about how the iDEAL profile works and select ‘Add accounts’.
  4. Select the account(s) you want to use for payments with your iDEAL profile and click ‘Continue on iDEAL.nl’.

You will now continue in the iDEAL environment. This is because your iDEAL profile is managed by the owner of iDEAL, Currence iDEAL B.V. Take the following steps in the iDEAL environment:

  1. Fill in your details for your iDEAL profile and read the terms and conditions. 
  2. You will be sent an email with a code to confirm your email address and iDEAL profile. 
  3. You can add your address, but you don’t have to. Select ‘Save’. 

Your iDEAL profile is good to go!

Frequently asked questions about the iDEAL profile

In the ABN AMRO app: 

  1. Log in to the ABN AMRO app and tap the ‘Payments’ tab.
  2. Scroll down and select iDEAL under ‘Payment methods’.
  3. You’ll be directed to iDEAL, where you can view and alter your profile. You can also delete your iDEAL profile here.

On Internet Banking:

  1. Log in to Internet Banking and go to 'Self service'.
  2. Select ‘Payments’ and then ‘Manage my iDEAL profile’.
  3. You’ll be directed to iDEAL, where you can view and alter your profile. You can also delete your iDEAL profile here.

Your details are stored with the owner of iDEAL, Currence iDEAL B.V. You agree to share your IBAN (account number) and contact details (and address if you added this) when you set up your profile. ABN AMRO only saves a link to your profile. 

We only share your name and account number, in the same way as any other iDEAL payment. If you’ve opted to add your telephone number and delivery address, and you choose the ‘iDEAL Checkout’ option when placing an order online, we’ll share these details with the online shop. Your iDEAL profile only has information that you have shared.

You can set up an iDEAL profile if you’re an ABN AMRO client and at least 16 years old. You only need a current account. You will never be asked to share government documents while setting up your profile. 

Yes, you can. When you set up your profile, you will be asked whether you have already created a profile with another bank. If you have, you can add your ABN AMRO current account to your existing iDEAL profile. You’ll then be able to choose which account to use when you pay for a purchase in an online shop.

‘iDEAL Pay Fast’ means that your name and account number will be shared when you complete your online purchase. 

‘iDEAL Checkout’ means that your address details and possibly your contact details will be shared, as well as your name and account number. This depends on which details you’ve added to your iDEAL profile. The details are shared with the online shop just once, to complete the purchase. 

Not all online shops offer ‘iDEAL Checkout’. You’ll see whether the option is available when you go to pay. Read more about iDEAL Checkout on the iDEAL website.
