Interest
  • The current interest rate for the KidsFuture Savings Account is 1.50% . This interest rate applies to the balance class of €0 up to and including €1,000,000. No interest will be paid above the stated balance class.
  • The bonus interest rate is currently  0.15% . This interest rate applies to the balance class of €0 up to and including €1,000,000. No interest will be paid above the stated balance class.

Opening an account
  • You can open a savings account if you have an ABN AMRO current account. Simply call us at 0900 - 81 70 (standard call charges apply). If you are calling from outside the Netherlands, please dial +31 10 - 241 17 23.
  • You open the account before the child reaches the age of 18. 
  • When you open a KidsFuture Savings Account (KinderToekomst Spaarrekening), you will be asked to provide the child's Dutch personal ID number (Burger Service Nummer (BSN)). You will find this number on the child's health insurance policy or card, or on the letter explaining the BSN that you will have received from your local council.
  • You can open one KinderToekomst Spaarrekening per child. 
Withdrawals
  • You can withdraw as much money as you like from a KidsFuture Savings Account whenever you want and free of charge. 
  • All you need to do is transfer the amount from the savings account to an ABN AMRO current account in the child's name. You can do this using our Mobile Banking app or Internet Banking, or by calling 0900 - 81 70 (standard call charges apply).
  • When you open an account, it will automatically include Internet Banking access, making it easy for you to manage your child's savings account.
Your child turns 18
  • ABN AMRO will close the KidsFuture Savings Account (KinderToekomst Spaarrekening) in the month of January in the year after your child turns 18. The savings, including the base rate and bonus interest rate, will be transferred to another ABN AMRO savings account in your child's name. 
  • If your child does not have another ABN AMRO savings account, we will open one for him or her. You will receive a letter with more information as the date approaches.
  • If your child wants to earn the bonus interest in the year he or she turns 18, your child must leave the savings in the account up to and including 30 December. 
  • Please note: When your child turns 18, only he or she will have access to the money.
Closing the account

You can close the KidsFuture Savings Account at any time. Simply call us on 0900 - 81 70 (standard call charges). If you are calling from outside the Netherlands, please dial +31 10 - 241 17 23.

Dutch Deposit Guarantee

Our money is protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee.

Your money held in accounts at ABN AMRO Bank is legally protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee, from 1 cent to €100,000. This protection applies per person and applies to the total amount that you have in your accounts at ABN AMRO Bank. You do not have to do anything for this.

Current account for children aged between 0 and 11
