A medical error can have significant repercussions and may result in a serious dispute. In such cases, you naturally want strong legal support to achieve a resolution. The Medical, Family, and Mediation module also covers conflicts over numerous family matters. Opt for the Mediation module if you wish to be insured for mediation costs during a divorce.

 

What sorts of things are covered?

Medical and Family
You and your partner are insured within the European Union, Norway and Switzerland in the event of a conflict:

  • Due to incorrect medical treatment
  • Relating to an inheritance

Involving divorce mediation
If you selected Medical and Family cover, you can opt for the additional Mediation cover. You are insured for divorce mediation within the European Union, Norway and Switzerland, for example. You will receive joint advice and practical help with:

  • Drawing up agreements about the financial, legal and practical aspects of the divorce
  • Drawing up a divorce settlement

This cover only applies if you have been insured for 3 years or more and you have a registered partnership or are married.

What is not covered?

Maximum cover

Medical, Family and Divorce Mediation module
The maximum reimbursement for the costs of a mediator is €3,000.

General information 

  • There is a maximum reimbursement of € 50,000 for external costs (other costs not covered by ARAG).
  • There is a maximum advance payment of €52,500 by ARAG if a (foreign) government requires a deposit.
  • If you choose a lawyer yourself in the event of judicial or administrative proceedings (also called Free Choice of Lawyer), the maximum reimbursement is €6,000.
